The Best Holiday Game Deals for RPG Fans and Physical Collectors

This time of year always hits me with a wave of nostalgia. I find myself missing what it felt like to be a kid, tearing open the wrapping paper to reveal a brand-new RPG, then disappearing into it for the rest of winter. No internet guides. No meta builds. Just me, a controller, and hours of quiet discovery.

Because of that, I keep a close eye on holiday sales every year—not just for digital discounts, but for physical copies I can add to my collection on the cheap. Sometimes I’ll even wrap them up and toss them under the tree or into a stocking, just to pretend they’re from Santa.

Here are some of the best deals I’ve spotted so far. I’ll keep updating the list as more pop up, and if you’ve seen any good ones yourself, feel free to share them in the comments.

Visions of Mana

The whimsical action RPG is currently just $20 across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (physical copies only). It’s a surprisingly solid attempt at reviving the Mana franchise after more than a decade without a true sequel. Bright, charming, and far better than it has any right to be.

Final Fantasy XVI

Also sitting at $20 at most retailers, this is an absolute steal for a 2023 Game of the Year contender. Despite some pacing and RPG-depth complaints, the music, performances, and cinematic boss fights are top-tier. The combat feels fantastic—even if it occasionally leans repetitive.

Unicorn Overlord

Vanillaware’s strategy RPG dips to $25 on PS5 and Switch. The story barely makes sense, and the back half can feel repetitive, but the art direction is phenomenal. The blend of turn-based tactics and RTS-style micromanagement is compelling enough to carry you through.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

I’m still early in Warhorse Studios’ ambitious sequel, but I already like it more than the first game. It’s wild how affordable it is for a 2025 Game Awards nominee$40 on PS5 and just $30 on Xbox. The PS5 version has even dipped to that lower price intermittently at GameStop.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

Don’t let the mobile origins fool you—this is the good stuff. Hironobu Sakaguchi taps directly into his early Final Fantasy roots here, delivering a slick turn-based RPG that feels like it could’ve launched on the PS1. Amazon has both PS5 and Switch copies for $30, which is a no-brainer.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection

I’ve been meaning to grab this one for ages, and for some reason it’s only $20 on Amazon right now. The individual games blur together a bit, but the hybrid strategy combat is still peak Game Boy Advance nostalgia.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

FFXII feels underrated these days. Pound-for-pound, it’s one of the densest entries in the series, and the remaster does an excellent job polishing the PS2 visuals. The improved job system makes it feel closer to a single-player MMO. It’s currently $25 on both PS5 and Switch.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster

Is the Pixel Remaster overpriced at full price? Absolutely. Are the smoothened visuals divisive? Also yes. But it’s still gaming history in a neat package. Picking it up for $40 makes it much easier to justify adding to the shelf.

Super Mario RPG

You’re probably never going to own the original SNES cartridge—used copies start at $50, and pristine ones cost much more. The Switch remaster looks fantastic and introduces a new ultimate combat system that modernizes battles nicely. At $25, it’s one of the best pickups of the season.

Persona 3 Reload

The physical PS5 version is down to $17 on Amazon and $25 at Best Buy, which is borderline absurd. It’s a stellar remake and might be my favorite Persona overall. Not as flashy as Persona 5, but with far stronger melancholy teen energy—and that vibe hits hard.

If you’re feeling nostalgic this holiday season, these deals are a great excuse to reconnect with that quieter, more personal side of gaming. Wrap one up, stash it under the tree, and let yourself believe in Santa just a little bit longer. 🎄🎮
